Merck based in New Jersey, Merck is a leader in the Pharmaceutical industry. Merck implemented SAP R/3 (an enterprise resource planning software system) over several years beginning in the year 2000. After its last regional rollout, the company recognized the need to support its employees after the SAP implementation.
Project Overview
Leadership regarded employees’ skill sustainment and growth, as well as new user development, as essential to the ongoing success of the SAP implementation. and leadership identified the Information Technology (IT) Education Team to build an e-learning module for this effort.The IT Education Team, in turn, requested assistance from Sagoe Consulting Group to develop the needed training courses.
Sagoe consulting group's role
Provided a seasoned consultants with extensive experience in instructional design and e-learning. The consultant initially used storyboards completed by the client to quickly develop (using Captivate software) two training modules that featured multiple, branching learning paths that illustrated realistic scenarios.
The consultant also worked in partnership with Merck instructional designers to create multiple storyboards (programmed in Flash) and provide quality assurance reviews of alpha and beta tests of the programs. The consultant from Clarity also provided design assessment questions to ensure that the programs were statistically valid and reliable. Merck used their enterprise-wide Learning Management System (LMS) to host the developed courses and make them available to their employees:

According to J.D. Power and Associates, verizon has led the industry in overall customer care for eight of the last nine reporting periods.

Project Overview As part of a comprehensive reorganization of the company’s training strategies, executives decided to put together a team to work on creating new standards and templates for eLearning. The team was tasked with doing extensive research on branding, job functions, and current training needs as well as on industry-wide best practices. The goal was to revamp the way the company approached eLearning in general, using a variety of new standards and templates to improve the delivery of content.
Sagoe consulting group's Role
Provided the company with an experienced eLearning and video expert. The consultant was part of a team of writers and developers that spent 9 months researching, developing documentation, and generating prototype courses, including interactive courses for salespeople on device training and marketing. After a review period, ideas from various prototype courses were then combined into one master course which could be used as a model for all eLearning companywide.
As a second part of the project, the consultant drew on over a decade of video production experience to advise on the creation of a video studio. The consultant helped create documentation and standards, advised on budgeting questions and best practices, and helped make technical decisions about equipment and programs.
The group of consultants worked well together, and helped move the reorganization forward to the next stage.
